Wreaths

Last weekend I decided I wanted to do something different-craft wise.  So I made coffee filter wreaths.  I LOVE to dye things, so this was a perfect craft for me.

I decided to use the Rit dyes I already had mixed up.  These were mauves and browns.

Then I made one in my husband's school colors.  Burgundy and gray, added a bow.

Also did one in yellow, oranges and red.

This one does not look as "fallish" as I would like.

These are a lot of fun to make!

Autumn transformation

Autumn/fall is my favorite time of year.  I grew up in Michigan where there are a definite change of seasons.  There is just something in the air in the fall, that unless you have experienced it, it is hard to describe.

I have a lot of fall decorations.  I get them out in September and leave them out until after Thanksgiving.  I could not decide this year if I wanted to get them out for two reasons.  One that we have 2 extra cats now and this fall season is sad for me, since we are coming up on one year since my dad passed away.

But, I decided to go ahead, decorate a little differently than I normally would do it.

This is my shelf that I decorate for the different seasons.  ( was just all in pink)
I started with a fabric scrap, with pumpkins and sheer orange fabric over that.
This is my base.

I decided I would do a cat theme.  I moved these around until I was pleased with the arrangement.
I then added in leaves and flowers.

These two were purchased last year at Hobby Lobby.  Too cute!

The kitty on the right was purchased at Jo-ann.
The center cone was from a flea market in Michigan-one of my favorite kitties!

I normally make an arrangement of these things at the base of this chiffarobe.  But because of the little "hay bale" and the cats, I put it on top.  I then added lights of orange, white, purple and a multi strand of orange, green & purple.  Leaves are then added in EVERYWHERE!

This scarecrow was given to me over 10 years ago.
I tucked him in among the flowers, leaves and lights.

I am very pleased with the way Autumn has come
to my Florida home!

Just another week of . . .Life

As I have said before, if I go too long to write a post, then I procrastinate even more.
Last night we got our daughter off to London and Amsterdam for 9 days.  We are in charge of the cats, of course, since they now live with us! Still waiting and hoping the three will learn to like(tolerate) each other!

I was just a lazy bum over the long weekend.  I did a little crafting and a lot of just sitting around.  Which I have decided is OK.  I am one who feels I should not waste time sitting around when there are SO many things that really need to be done around here!

My Mom's brother passed away last Thursday.  It has been a very tough 10 months for her.  We lost my Dad Oct 30.  About 4 months ago my Dad's sister passed, July 31 my Mom's oldest sister passed and then her brother Aug 30.  I feel so bad that I am not up there to be more support to her.  I call almost every day to hear about her day, asking what she is eating, how she is feeling, etc.  I will be be going to see her in about a month.

These are the ties that I have made.  I have most of them listed in my etsy shop.
They are fun and quick to make!

Updates

We are very thankful here in Tampa, that Isaac did not directly cross our path.  We got very little rain and wind.  The heavy rain bands missed us.  I was SO stressed about possible evacuation.  I need to learn to wait until it is 2 days away to get stressed.  Look at how much the path changed!!

The cat situation is about the same, to my distress.  Really wanting Gemma to come out of the bedroom.  I got Spirit Essences about a week ago.  They are promoted by Jackson Galaxy, the My Cat From Hell guy on TV.  I am trying to help Gemma be less stressed and Yoshi to chill out.  The essences take a couple of weeks to help they say.  So far- same.

I am happy I got a few new items listed to my etsy shop and I have a lot of new ideas forming in my head for fall.

I did well with myfitnesspal.com.  I weighed in this morning after one week of using it and I lost 2.6 lbs!  I did not exercise they way I had hoped.  I always have what I think is a valid excuse for why I did not do it- when in the end there is really NO valid excuse when I know it is good for me!  I did not track my calories on Sunday, and I felt constantly hungry no matter what I ate on Sunday.  But, I did still lose weight!

Since my husband is now riding his bicycle to school I thought I might ride a few miles in the evening to meet him.  Even 10 minutes is better than nothing.  But the weather here has not been good for that yesterday or today.  OH, a valid excuse!! :-)

I will continue watching my calories this week and see what happens!

Off to make dinner!

Isaac

Under major stress at the moment.  We live in Tampa Florida.  We are in the "cone of uncertaintity".
We live in a level two evacuation zone and we get flooding on our street.  With a storm surge our house could be under water.  These are always a wait and see thing.  By Sunday we will know if we need to evacuate.  We do have some place to go.  We evacuated twice before.  But, now we have 3 cats to think of too.  My kitty does not like to be picked up, so getting her into a carrier will be a real
challenge.  You ask yourself will you lose everything you have worked for?  What do you take with you?  Pictures of course and important papers.  I know I am not to put my trust in any wordly possesions.  I must trust the Lord.
